If you only accept one invitation this autumn make it this one!
That's the message from women in UNISON who want their female counterparts to find their voice.
Women in Leadership is the theme of this year's annual conference by the North West Regional Women's Committee being held from 10am-4pm on Saturday 21st September 2019 - and all women members are invited.
The venue is UNISON's regional offices at Arena Point, 1 Hunt's Bank, Manchester M3 1UN, right next to Manchester Victoria train station.
The aim of the event is to demonstrate how grass-roots members of all ages can make a difference and be leaders in their own right. Keynote speakers include UNISON North West's regional convenor Paula Barker and newly-appointed assistant general secretary Stephanie Thomas. Joining them will be up-and-coming activist Michelle Tymon, currently spearheading a strike for pay parity for domestics employed by Compass at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
There'll also be workshops on designing a banner as part of a craftivist campaign and by active young members on the Future is Now. There will be an opportunity to attend both workshops.
Ask your branch to nominate you as a delegate to receive travel expenses, or you can fund your own travel by nominating yourself. Please confirm your attendance by emailing Jennifer Walley at [email protected] and letting her know if you have any dietary or access needs. Lunch will be provided.
Please speak to your branch if you would like to suggest a motion to be considered for submission to the national women's committee. Your local women's representative will be able to assist you with this. Motions should also be submitted to Jennifer Walley at [email protected]
Please do your best to attend. Everyone welcome, but places will be limited. Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible and preferably by 11th September 2019.
