"Police Services have lost 1,000s of jobs since 2010 and remain stretched."
Commenting on George Osborne's Comprehensive Spending Review today, Maria Moss, UNISON North West Head of Police & Justice said:
“Public pressure and trade union campaigning has led to George Osborne rowing back from his damaging plans to cut Police funding.
"We were very fearful of the consequences of further cuts, and the overwhelming feeling of UNISON members in the Police service is one of relief.
“However, Police Services have lost 1,000s of jobs since 2010 and remain stretched. We are not convinced that Osborne’s funding announcement will give the public the security that he talks about, and we will need to study the detail carefully.”
