UNISON In Schools: November 2020

It is a worrying time for school support staff across the North West.

As national lockdown continues, UNISON’s National Schools Committee – made up of members like you working in schools across the country – is calling on the government to close schools and nurseries to all but key worker children and vulnerable pupils for the duration of the lockdown to bring the infection rate down, but as the government seem intent on keeping schools open fully, we have requested a range of measures to enhance the safety of both staff and pupils.
At the same time, we are seeing private contractors such as Dolce using the cloak of coronavirus to attack your terms and conditions.

Please find attached our latest UNISON North West Schools Newsletter which outlines our current advice and guidance and also shows how members are coming together to protect themselves and stand up for their jobs.

Thousands of new members have joined UNISON during the pandemic – but in order to grow and improve things at work, we need all our members to get active. See our newsletter for more information about getting involved and, in the meantime, please share the newsletter with colleagues and ask them to join UNISON.

In solidarity,

Pam Howard and Cath Baggaley, UNISON North West Regional School Convenors

Please read our latest schools newsletter to find out how you can get involved and for an update on the current situation in schools.
