UNISON members in the North West work for a wide range of transport organisations, particularly Passenger Transport Executives, bus companies, British Waterways and regional airports. Their jobs include professional, managerial, administrative, clerical manual and engineering roles. In addition to negotiating pay, terms and conditions, UNISON works on different priority issues for each group of members.

Members in transport Branches in the Region meet on a quarterly basis to discuss local issues.
The Chair of the Group is Roger Irvine from the Mersey Travel Branch Recent issues of debate have included:
- Job evaluation at Manchester and Liverpool PTEs
- Terms and conditions in Bus Companies
- Supporting campaigns to improve the transport infrastructure in the Region
- Representation of members in the Manchester Airport Group
