Around 100 determined campaigners braved torrential rain on Saturday to protest against the closure of Calderstones.
The march and rally in Whalley was a tremendous success, despite heavy rain that flooded the march route. Workers and service users’ family members turned out to defend the valuable services provided at Calderstones.
The organisers are grateful to all who came out in such difficult circumstances. The event was attended by UNISON branches including Lancashire Care, Central Lancs Health, and Bolton Salford and Trafford Mental Health. The GMB and Unite Aircelle branch from Burnley took part, as did the Blackburn Trades Council and LATUC.
