Taking advantage of UNISON Learning And Organising Services’ free workshop offer for members, there have been several workshops taking place throughout the region. The 1 day workshops, delivered by the WEA, are proving very popular; Hyndburn BC and Rochdale LG branches are the latest to run them and Bury LG branch will be hosting their own workshop this weekend.
Hyndburn ran both Facing Change Together and Your Skills, Your Future workshops and branch Communications Officer and Digital Champion Karen Gregory was very happy to have had the opportunity to attend;
“It’s great that UNISON can offer these workshops and also great that we could invite colleagues from surrounding branches like Burnley, Blackburn and Pendle to join us – it gives us the chance to talk about what we’re facing and how we can work together with the union to change things.”
Audrey Price at Rochdale branch who organised a Facing Change Together workshop agreed with Karen;
“Really positive was the interaction between the group. No uncomfortable silences! They all chatted to each other and every attendee willingly contributed individually and as part of a team. At the end they all agreed to swop email addresses so contact can be maintained. This was a really important point as it fits the stronger together message.”
We hope to run more of these workshops throughout the coming year, free to members, all part of your membership; these dovetail with the free dementia awareness workshops that we are running regularly – UNISON North West giving you the chance to learn!
