Campaigners for public services in Lancashire will be marching in London on Saturday to call on the Government to provide more funding for the County.

They will be taking part in the People’s Assembly’s ‘March for Health, Homes, Jobs and Education’.

UNISON Lancashire Branch Secretary Elaine Cotterell will be amongst over 50 campaigners making the trip.  Elaine said:

“We’re going down to London because that is where the source of the problem lies.  The Conservative Government has already cut Lancashire’s budget by hundreds of millions, and by 2018 the County Council won’t even have enough money to run legally-required services.  We’re facing cuts in libraries, museums, care services and youth services.  It’s not right and we can’t go on like this.

“We want good quality public services that we can all use.  The Government have u-turned before on Police cuts and tax credit cuts.  We want to put pressure on them to stop slashing funding for Lancashire services.”
