Higher Education/ Universities strike ballot

UNISON is recommending that members vote ‘YES’ to take strike action over pay in Higher Education. We believe it is the only way to improve the current pay offer of 1%. The Ballot runs from 18th September to 8th October 2013.

Theresa Griffin, UNISON North West lead for Higher Education said:

“It is time that universities recognised the invaluable work that UNISON members do. They deserve a living wage and the removal of zero hours contracts.”

“While vice-chancellor pay goes through the roof our members have been offered a paltry 1% – a real terms cut in pay. Pay has already fallen by 13% over the last four years.”

“It’s really important that members use their vote in this ballot to send a clear message
to employers that enough is enough and vote ‘YES’ to take strike action over pay .”
