In the North West we are looking to get at least one representative in each health branch trained and ready to assess risk. In order to do this UNISON North West have developed a webinar for UNISON reps who may have never undertake health and safety training or duties or indeed any H&S rep that may wish to have a refresher on risk assessment.
Health & Safety Risk Assessment Webinar with Janet Newsham, Greater Manchester Hazards
UNISON North West invites you to a Webinar that will tell you everything you need to know about assessing risk in your workplace. So whether you have never done a risk assessment or if you’d just like a refresher to scrub up your skills this is for you.
There are 2 dates available. Both are open to all UNISON Reps (not just H&S Reps)
Wednesday 8th July at 3:00 pm
Thursday 23rd July at 10:00am
Those wanting to register to join the Webinar can contact Kim Scott ([email protected]) who will send them a link and joining instructions.
If you enjoy the session contact Sarah France [email protected] to find out more about becoming a Health & Safety Rep in your branch.
Did you know?
* Unlike other trade union roles Health & Safety reps represent all employees in terms of health and safety at work – not just trade union members.
* There are specific regulations, codes of practice and guidance relating to the work and training of safety representatives and safety committees (known as “The Brown Book”) https://www.tuc.org.uk/sites/default/files/BrownBook2015.pdf
* The Brown Book states that “An employer shall permit a safety representative to take such time off with pay during the employee’s working hours as shall be necessary for the purposes of to perform functions under section 2(4) of the 1974 Act and paragraph (1) (a) to (h) AND under go training in aspects of those functions.
