Greater Manchester Citizens Assembly

The biggest event of the Greater Manchester mayoral election process takes place on bank holiday Monday, May 1st, at the Lowry Theatre in Salford.

Mayoral candidates will hear first hand from local members of Citizens UK as they raise key issues for the people of Greater Manchester:

  • dignity in social care
  • tackling hate crime
  • the real living wage
  • housing and homelessness

UNISON members working in social care will describe their experiences and concerns and we will be looking for candidates to pledge support to improve services and employment conditions.

This will be a family-friendly bank holiday event, suitable for people of all ages.  It takes place at the Lowry Theatre, Salford M50 3AZ from 2pm to 4pm on Monday 1st May.

The aim is to get some 1800 people to attend.  People from all parts of Greater Manchester are encouraged to come and be part of it.

You can register your place at the event here.

If you would like further details about the event please contact your local branch or Janet Caulfield at [email protected]

This is the first big event in Greater Manchester organised by Citizens - a community organising initiative which aims to articulate the voice of people from a diverse range of backgrounds and organisations.  Greater Manchester Citizens is the newest chapter of Citizens UK, and UNISON North West is a founding member.
