UNISON members across the North West have been taking strike action today over pay.
Staff have seen their pay fall in real terms each year since 2009. This year, the Government decided not to pay even the 1% rise recommended by the NHS Pay Review Body.
The public reaction to the strike has been really good. The public value their health service and the people who provide it, and we hope that the Government will see that the campaign for fair pay has widespread support.
The campaign continues this week with the action short of a strike – where NHS staff will be taking their scheduled breaks.
