Bury council relaunched some of their workforce groups recently and learning was right at the centre of it. UNISON ULR lead Roger Pakeman, UNISON regional Learning Organiser Steve Swift and colleagues from Unionlearn held sessions at Bradley Fold depot at 7 in the morning for staff, offering bacon butties, discussing available courses and completing online surveys with iPads. They then moved to the Town Hall in the middle of the day and finished off with the council offices in Radcliffe in the afternoon.
Each of the events was well attended with staff enjoying the wealth of information, the learning opportunities, quick read books and of course the buffet and cakes available!
Roger told us, “with the recent signing of the Learning Agreement, we have placed learning right in the middle of what we do with the council, these events show how committed we all are. It’s been a real success with lots of interest in courses and we will soon be running a mid life career review event during an Apprentices day. We are ready to do lots more, so keep your eyes open for more activity!”
Bury are motoring ahead with their learning and we expect to see them in this section many times in the future.
