UNISON Blackpool branch is organising a march on Monday (27th) to protest against the Council’s plans to close its remaining nursery provision in the town.
The Council currently runs nurseries in two deprived areas – Grange Park and Talbot & Brunswick. The nurseries are well-used and are focal points for local communities.
Now, due to central government funding cuts, the Council is planning to close both nurseries at the end of August, cutting 26 jobs.
Parents, children and staff are united in opposing these closures.
The march will set off from Talbot & Brunswick Children’s Centre on Gorton St. at 12 noon.
There will then be a rally at the Town Hall at 12.30.
Everybody is welcome to come along to support the campaign.
