    Managing Workplace Aggression Manchester May 2019

    This course is ideal for front line workers who work with service users.

    The course will will deal with challenging situations that are faced by workers and give participants mechanisms to deal with them. 

    The course will look at:

    • Risk Assessments, 
    • Interpreting body language,
    • Stages of aggression,
    • De-escalating challenging people;

    The course will be run by Jez Brigham, an experienced trainer in dealing with managing and de-escalating aggression in the workplace.

     

    Before you sign up for this course please read the course description carefully and make sure you can attend on the date; Wednesday 29th May. We have lots of members cancelling their places on courses, this means other members miss out on places and courses can be cancelled at a cost to UNISON.

    Functional Skills Maths: Waiting List 2019

    Functional Skills: Maths qualifications.

    This course is aimed at people developing their confidence and skills in Maths.

    You will work and develop your skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification. The skills you will learn will improve your confidence in using Maths in everyday settings.

    This course is advertised as a waiting list. Please ignore the date and time advertised on this course. This is so we can keep the the course placed in the list where you can find it easily.

    When we have enough people in an area we will organise an introduction session so you can meet your tutor and find out more about the course and qualification.

    Return to Learn: Waiting List 2019

    Return to Learn

     The Return to Learn course is designed for members who have been away from learning for some time. The runs one evening a week for 10 weeks and there is also a weekend overnight stay with your course group.

    On this course you will learn and develop skills to help you in everyday life and work.  You will learn a number of skills, including:

    • Confidence to express your opinion in group conversations
    • Helping your children with homework
    • Note-taking
    • Being able to present ideas to people
    • Problem solving
    • Thinking about and planning for your future

    There are no exams to take and the group has a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

    Like the rest of our learning programme, this course is free and your travel costs will be paid for (your overnight stay, travel, accommodation and food will also be covered), we can even provide help with childcare/dependent costs.

    Numeracy Challenge Champions: Waiting List 2019

    Numeracy Challenge Champions

    This is a course for UNISON Union Learning Representatives.

    Numeracy Challenge Champions learn how to use different promotional materials from the National Numeracy Challenge to promote good Maths skills in the work place. You don’t have to be a maths expert, and you will not to be expected to teach maths.

    The workshop will enable you to:

    • Help others to see Maths as a valuable part of everyday life
    • Encourage people to use the Challenge online
    • Support people to use the challenge
    • Challenge the view that maths ability can’t be changed
    • Promote the challenge through leaflets, newsletters and in meetings
    • Run an introductory Numeracy Challenge workshop.

    Women's Lives: Waiting List 2019

    Women’s Lives

    This course is only for women and gives you the opportunity to learn and develop skills in a friendly, supportive environment. The course runs for one evening a week for 10 weeks and there is also a weekend overnight stay with your course group.

    The course will help you develop confidence and skills through different activities with co-operation and mutual support of your group. You will learn a number of skills, including:

    • Confidence to express your opinion in group conversations
    • Helping your children with homework
    • Note-taking
    • Being able to present ideas to people
    • Problem solving
    • Thinking about and planning for your future

    There are no exams to take and the group has a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

    Like the rest of our learning programme, this course is free and your travel costs will be paid for (your overnight stay travel, accommodation and food will also be covered), we can even provide help with childcare/dependent costs.

    Please Note: This is a Waiting List for this course. We need to find out who is interested in doing this course and where you live, this will help us plan where to next run the course. The date given is only to keep this course waiting list in a position in the calendar where it can be seen and easily accessed.
