UNISON visited Oasis Academy in Limeside, Oldham today. A number of staff joined at our meeting, and the school staff now have a new UNISON Workplace Representative. Great news!
UNISON Representative Eugene Leech told us: ‘In the ever changing world of education, it has never been more important for support staff working in academies, free schools and faith schools to be members of UNISON.’
Wednesday 25th September
Representatives from UNISON met with staff at Elton Community School on 25 September to discuss the proposal to change the school to forced academy status. They offered support in any campaign and are liaising with colleagues in the NUT and NASUWT to work on a community based action plan against the proposed forced academy. Our members felt re-assured the union is supporting them.
Monday 23rd September
UNISON were warmly greeted by support staff at Audley Junior School, Blackburn today. Members were interested in becoming more active in the union – learning more about becoming a steward and in attending the branch’s monthly Schools Committee.
