This course celebrates and explores the life of seaman, writer and trade union activist, George Garrett.

George Garrett wrote plays and short stories, befriended and influenced George Orwell and yet also lived parts of his life in poverty and struggle in the depression of the 1920s and 1930s.  Explore George’s life through an archive of his original documents and texts.
