NORTH WEST REGIONAL WOMEN’S CONFERENCE
GROWING THE UNION: INCREASING PARTICIPATION OF YOUNG WOMEN
The North West Regional Women’s Conference is to be held on
Saturday 25th July 2015, 9.30/10am to 3.00pm.
at UNISON Regional Office, Arena Point, 1 Hunt’s Bank, Manchester M3 1UN
UNISON North West has an active and enthusiastic women’s group, but we always want more members to get involved. Our conference will focus on increasing the participation of women – especially young women – in our union. We will hear from a range of speakers from the NUS, a rape crisis centre and from within UNISON as we work to encourage women to be active in the union and to help make things better in our workplaces and communities.
It should be a good day. Please contact your branch if you would like to attend.

Hundreds of FE staff, including activists from UNISON, UCU and ATL, took part in a rally outside Westminster before lobbying politicians in the Houses of Parliament.
Lancashire County Council is set to decide this month whether fracking can take place in the county. Activities are planned on Tuesday 23 June to show public opposition to these plans.
Commenting on the Queen’s Speech, UNISON North West Regional Secretary Kevan Nelson said:
“Fewer than two out of five voters supported the Conservatives on May 7th, and this Queen’s Speech does not match the priorities or wishes of people in the North West.
