Keep Probation Public

Probation workers perform an invaluable public service in supervising the most dangerous offenders leaving prison. They also play a vital role in rehabilitating offenders so they can reintegrate into their local communities.

On 19 September the Government is placing an advert inviting private sector companies to bid to take over running this crucial public service. Amongst the likely bidders are Serco and G4S, both currently under investigation for alleged fraud in the running of previous Ministry of Justice contracts. Members of UNISON and Napo will be protesting against this reckless privatisation at lunchtime rallies:

Thursday 19 September

12 Noon to 2PM

at the following Probation Offices:

Manchester City Centre 12 Minshull Street, Manchester, M1 3FR
Moss Side 87 Moss Lane West, Moss Side, Manchester, M15 5PE
Nelson 25 Manchester Road, Nelson, Lancashire BB9 9YB
Blackpool 384 Talbot Road, Blackpool. FY3 7AT
Preston 50 Avenham Street,Preston.PR1 3BN
Lancaster 41 West Road, Lancaster. LA1 5NU

Everybody’s welcome to join us.

Please come along for part of your lunchtime to show your opposition to the Government’s plans that are both a threat to hard-working probation staff and to the safety of the public.
