Each year on 28 April, International Workers Memorial Day (IWMD) is marked around the world to Remember the Dead, Fight for the Living. We remember those killed, made ill, or injured by their own or someone else’s work. Their pain and suffering and that of their families should not to be forgotten. We also renew our commitment to, and demand once more, safe and healthy work for all.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Bhopal Disaster. The Bhopal Medical Appeal are asking people on 28 April to remember the 25,000 Bhopalis who died as a result of the 1984 gas disaster, or are affected by the groundwater contamination from the same Union Carbide factory, and inviting people to send a message of support to the survivors who continue in their struggle for justice.
For more information on the Bhopal Medical Appeal initiative please see here.
