Edward Rushton (1756–1814) was a leading Liverpool radical. He was a campaigner against slavery and for the rights of disabled people. He established the first school for the blind in the country on Hardman Street in Liverpool. He was also a notable poet and writer.
UNISON North West is organising two events about Edward Rushton in Liverpool on Wednesday 12 November at Toxteth Library (1.30pm) and Central Library (6.30pm).
The actor John Graham Davis will be giving a presentation about Rushton and will read from his most famous works.
