Campaign Against Mental Health Service Cuts in Stockport

Stockport - NHS Bday rallyThere was a successful lobby of Stockport Council’s Health & Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee last night (1 April).

Stockport’s mental health services are currently amongst the lowest funded per head in the region.

The Chair of the Committee has offered a full service review working with UNISON, the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the Foundation Trust, the Council’s Adult Services, carers, service users and the third sector.

UNISON has welcomed this development, and we are continuing our demand for fair funding for Stockport Mental Health Services.

Angela Rayner, Stockport Branch Chair, addressing the meeting said:

“UNISON represents workers across all the public sector, including local government, police, health, voluntary and community third sector.”

“We have enacted this campaign because we care about what happens to our service users.  We want to be given the resources to provide professional quality support to the people of Stockport.  We want to work with all the providers and commissioners to ensure we find solutions that will deliver to those that require our services and support”.
