Bolton Metro UNISON branch bask in the sun to deliver learning event

On 24th September, Bolton LifeLong Learning Coordinator for UNISON Bolton Metro Branch, Sue Vickers, along with Branch volunteers, Bolton Council’s Green Liaison Project Officer, Unionlearn, Regional learning help, and the Dyslexia Foundation, held a learning stall in Bolton town square for members and residents.

Throughout the day we spoke to at least 50 people, many of whom we were able to signpost and put in contact with their local community centre for job clubs and getting online. We were also able to help members with learning, giving them lots to think about, providing details for further contact and collecting interest for specific courses.

A great day, lots of sunshine (luckily), great chat and real enthusiasm for learning. Sue said: “We’ve had a great day today; people really appreciated the information about how much of all kinds of learning is actually out there and available to them.  There was a lot of interest in joining Unison and we talked to existing members about benefits they didn’t know about.  This should be the start of lots of learning activity with the UNISON branch and Bolton council. Keep an eye out for future events!”
